Without tasting the different grain mixes, our corporate buyer and I had to run down the hall and grab our president and bring him into the meeting. We all were blown away that the fully cooked grain product was shelf stable for up to twelve months at room temperature. Working in many facilities where refrigeration space doesn’t come easy, I am sure you can imagine our excitement. The grain mixes where equally as impressive. The use of grains like quinoa, Millet and Amaranth, all cooked perfectly in the same package. Each grain type separated as if the chef had cooked them individually before chilling them and mixing them together. During our tasting of each unique grain profile we discussed the production complexity of each mixture and how every one of the RTE products had a consistent outcome. Unfortunately, that is not the case in the real world. The opportunity to serve perfectly cooked grains to our guests will dramatically improve customer satisfaction and will immensely benefit our hospital kitchen staff mostly having never cooked these type of unique grain varietals. We can’t wait for our first RTE CUISINE shipments to start production on new cold salads, warm pilafs, risotto, breakfast cereals and many others.
